Understand your GST notice, form by form
GST notices come as forms with codes, and each code means something different: a mismatch to explain, a demand to pay, or a registration at risk. Share the notice and TellBrief tells you which form it is, what it says you owe or must explain, the deadline, and how you reply, with every point linked to its line.
What TellBrief tells you
- Which form it is and what it asks: an explanation, a payment or a reply
- The amount, the tax period and the mismatch it points to
- The date to reply by, worked out from the notice
- What to keep ready, and when it is worth calling your CA
Words you'll see
- ASMT-10
- A scrutiny notice: the officer found a discrepancy in your return and wants an explanation, usually in form ASMT-11.
- DRC-01
- A summary of a show cause notice or demand: tax, interest and penalty the department says is due.
- REG-17
- A notice asking why your GST registration should not be cancelled.
- ITC
- Input tax credit: GST you paid on purchases and claim back. Mismatches here cause many notices.
- Show cause notice
- A notice asking you to explain why an action should not be taken. Replying in time matters.
