Understand your offer letter before you sign
An offer letter is exciting to get and easy to sign too quickly. The lines that matter most are usually not on the first page: how much of the CTC reaches your bank, how long the notice period is, and whether you owe money for leaving early. Share the letter and TellBrief puts those first, each linked to its clause.
What TellBrief tells you
- What actually reaches your bank each month, not just the CTC
- The notice period, probation and any bond, payback or training cost clause
- Which parts of the pay are variable and not guaranteed
- Questions worth asking HR before you sign
Words you'll see
- CTC
- Cost to company: everything the employer spends on you, including PF, gratuity and bonuses. It is more than your in-hand pay.
- In-hand salary
- What reaches your bank after tax, PF and other deductions.
- Notice period
- How long you must keep working after you resign. Some letters let you pay instead of serving it.
- Bond / payback
- A clause asking you to repay an amount, such as training costs, if you leave before a set time.
- Probation
- A trial period, often 3 to 6 months, sometimes with a shorter notice period.
Questions
Is the CTC what I'll get every month?
No. CTC includes things you don't receive monthly, like the employer's PF share, gratuity and variable pay. TellBrief shows the in-hand figure if the letter gives it, and says so if it doesn't.
Can TellBrief tell me if a bond is legal?
No. It shows exactly what the clause says and the amount, so you can ask HR or a lawyer about it. It does not decide whether a clause will hold up.
Can it explain the letter in Hindi?
Yes. Pick हिंदी, English or Hinglish.
